Other clarifying information: Meeting the published minimum standards does not guarantee an interview for the pharmacy program. The pharmacy admissions committee reserves the right to determine who will be interviewed. Students not having the Wayne State University chemistry sequence must complete two semesters or three quarters of general chemistry with labs and two semesters or three quarters of organic chemistry with labs. For calculus, Wayne State does not accept any applied calculus, survey courses, or calculus for business or science.

All prerequisite courses must be at least a C/2.0 or higher. All science prerequisite courses must be completed by May 10, 2011. All non-science prerequisites must be completed by August 10, 2011.

As a guide, applicants are expected to receive at least the 25th percentile on the verbal and reading portions of the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT) and at least the 50th percentile on the biology, chemistry, and quantitative portions of the PCAT. The PCAT must be completed by October 31, 2010 if you are applying for the class that enters fall 2011.

If you enter the pharmacy program with a bachelor's degree, you do not need to complete the general education requirements. Students who do not have a bachelor's degree prior to entering the PharmD program will have to complete the general education requirements prior to entering the second professional year. It is strongly recommended that students complete the general education requirements prior to admission into the pharmacy program.

Canadian applicants need to send student copies of their transcripts to Wayne State University, Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. This is to ensure that their applications are reviewed on a timely basis. This does not mean that Canadian students do not have to submit an ECE/WES transcript evaluation that is required as part of the PharmCAS application.
