  • 3.00 minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average as calculated by PharmCAS
  • 3.00 minimum prerequisite grade point average as calculated by the Wayne State University pharmacy admissions committee
  • Minimum of the 50th percentile on the composite portion of the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT). As a guide, applicants are expected to receive at least the 25th percentile on the verbal and reading portions and at least the 50th percentile on the biology, chemistry, and quantitative portions of the PCAT. The PCAT must be completed by October 2008 if you are applying for the class that enters fall 2009 and wish to be considered for an interview. The January 2009 PCAT will not be used in determining interview candidates.

Students who do not have a baccalaureate degree or will not have a baccalaureate degree prior to entering the PharmD program will have to complete the following Wayne State University general education requirements prior to entering their second professional year:

  • Computer science
  • Critical thinking
  • Foreign culture
  • Historical studies
  • Intermediate composition
  • Philosophy and letters
  • Social science
  • Visual and performing arts

It is highly recommended that students complete these general education requirements prior to admission into the program.

Applicants for admission to the Wayne State University PharmD program will be evaluated using both academic and non-academic criteria. The applicant’s pre-pharmacy academic record and PCAT scores are factors of high importance. Other factors are considered as part of a holistic evaluation. These factors include communication skills, extracurricular activities, work experience, and diversity, defined as including but not being limited to ethnicity, gender, race, life experiences, and residency.

Meeting the published minimum standards does not guarantee an interview for the pharmacy program. The pharmacy admissions committee reserves the right to determine who will be interviewed.
