Program Description Butler is a private, comprehensive university with over 5,000 full-time students. Four of our six colleges offer high quality, graduate-level, distance education combining exceptional learning with real life experiences to enhance graduate outcomes. The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences currently houses two of those programs!

Since 1904, we’ve been creating highly qualified pharmacy practitioners by leveraging a liberal arts perspective to develop life-long learners serving as dedicated health professionals and community leaders. The current curriculum prepares students for practice in all professional environments including novel pharmacy settings. Our faculty and nation-wide alumni network are here to support students through the process of discernment and development as they navigate the varied list of opportunities currently available to pharmacists. Butler faculty are passionate about teaching and working with our students to enhance the student’s skill set while also serving their local community.

Butler graduates consistently achieve a NAPLEX pass rate well above the national average. Our 3-year aggregate pass rate is 95% compared to 86% nationally (2019-2021). Approximately 60% of our graduates go directly into the workforce with a 98% job placement rate (Class of 2021). On average, 40% of Butler graduates pursue non-clinical fellowships, clinical residency programs and even PhD programs! For those pursuing post-graduate clinical residency programs, Butler's PGY1 match rate was 73% in 2021 compared to 65% nationally.

We believe in the importance of learning by doing which is why our program requires three immersion experiences on our Indianapolis campus allowing distance-based students to apply their knowledge, perfect their skills, and have the opportunity to be physically part of our community. This is in addition to the variety of required practice experiences; 2 introductory and 10 in advanced practice, at excellent sites nationwide.

Minimum Overall GPA: ~3.0
Minimum Prerequisite GPA: ~2.8
Provide any additional information regarding GPA policies for applicants: While preference is given to students with the stated high level of academic performance, we believe in looking at students holistically in our admission process reviewing each applicant individually. There is more to preparing tomorrow's healthcare leaders both locally and globally than can sometimes be predicted by prerequisite or cumulative GPAs. Every suitable candidate, regardless of background, merits an individual review by faculty, many of whom maintain active practice sites and understand what patient's need in a provider first-hand. Therefore, we also look for positive academic trends in a student's record as a way to be assured that admitted students can be successful and thrive in our program.
