Program Description
-------------------
Program Description:
The South College School of Pharmacy is proud to start a unique online/hybrid 3-year pathway for a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. This pathway allows students access to an accelerated 3-year timeline while pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree primarily from their current home location. The online/hybrid pathway will allow students the flexibility of completing coursework through both asynchronous and synchronous virtual sessions. Online/hybrid students will also enjoy live on-campus experiences to immerse them in irreplaceable portions of the in-person student experience.

Students who are accepted into the online/hybrid pathway will be required to be on-campus for 1 week prior to their P1 year for orientation, for 2 weeks in June at the end of quarter 4 of their P1 year, for 2 weeks in June at the end of quarter 8 in their P2 year, and for 2 weeks prior to graduation in the P3 year. One APPE (one calendar month) in the P3 year is also currently anticipated to be completed in the greater Knoxville, TN area.

During on campus immersion labs students will build upon experiences with classmates and faculty members, taking advantage of face-to-face time to further skills and relationships. By providing the online/hybrid pathway, the South College School of Pharmacy aims to continue to meet the needs of a diverse student body and help prepare students for the healthcare settings of the future.

The online/hybrid pathway for the South College School of Pharmacy has no ACPE accreditation status to date. This pathway offering is planned pending approval by its programmatic accreditor, The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). It is anticipated that a decision regarding accreditation will be available prior to the pathway launch in June, 2024. Should the pathway not be approved all accepted students will be invited into the traditional, on campus Doctor of Pharmacy program in Summer 2024 if approval is not granted.
