    Residency is used for tuition classification only. For tuition purposes, applicants are classified as Texas residents or non-residents based on Texas domicile, not citizenship. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and naturalized citizens establish Texas residency in the same manner, by demonstrating domicile in Texas, generally defined as 12 months of physical presence with intent to remain.
