Program Description

The University of Findlay’s innovatively designed and delivered 4-year Online Doctor of Pharmacy (Distance PharmD) degree program blends the convenience of online didactic coursework – asynchronous with optional live study sessions with faculty – with valuable on-campus immersion experiences and experiential learning near your community.  Findlay offers a highly supportive and connected online community, with engaged faculty dedicated to each student’s success.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Introductory (IPPE) and Advanced (APPE) Practice Experience are supervised, structured training experiences with a licensed pharmacist, in a clinical setting near your community.

IPPEs are completed in the first three years, 100 hours each year, in addition to the regular online coursework to help you gain confidence while building practical pharmaceutical and patient-focused communication skills.

APPEs are the full focus of the final year, a minimum of 1,440 hours – year 4 has no coursework. Students engage in direct patient care with nine 1-month rotations in settings that may include general medicine, ambulatory care, community pharmacy, geriatrics, and cardiology.

ON-CAMPUS IMMERSIONS
Each May during the first three years, students gain invaluable experience through one-week immersions featuring assessments, hands-on skill training, labs, simulations, and interdisciplinary and service-learning experiences.

STUDENT SUPPORT
Our Distance PharmD students are supported from enrollment through graduation, including dedicated experiential learning placement assistance, and benefit from the same resources and support as our on-campus students. You are part of the Findlay community.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
The University of Findlay and ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy are nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report. Our College of Pharmacy students graduate practice-ready, achieving high NAPLEX/MPJE Pass rates. (see links below)
