Program Description At the SIUE School of Pharmacy, we offer a dynamic, student-centered Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program that prepares future pharmacists to be leaders in patient care, innovation, and community service. The only pharmacy program in downstate Illinois, SIUE combines the personalized attention of a small cohort with the resources and value of a public institution.

The full-time, four-year PharmD program consists of three years of didactic coursework followed by three semesters of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE). Students begin their clinical training early through Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) each semester during the didactic phase.
A hallmark of the program is the unique Improving Patient Care through Teamwork (ImPaCT) APPE rotation, where students develop and complete a pharmacy-related scholarly research project. Each student designs their study, conducts literature reviews, collects and analyzes data, and presents findings in both a formal paper and public presentation at the annual ImPaCT Poster and Presentation Day.

In addition to the PharmD, the SIUE School of Pharmacy fosters discovery and academic growth through graduate research, clinical innovation, and interprofessional collaboration. Students have access to cutting-edge laboratories, simulation technology, and rural and urban clinical sites throughout Illinois and the St. Louis region. Our graduates consistently achieve strong board licensure pass rates, competitive residency placements, and long-term professional success.

Briefly describe your institution's interview process: Applicants will be notified regarding their selection for an interview as their application is completed, and then reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Interviews are held on a monthly basis from September through June. Should the applicant be invited for an interview, a one-page resume will be requested by a prescribed deadline. On the day of the interview, students will complete a writing assessment, meet with current pharmacy students, faculty/staff, and alumni. A tour of the campus and professional headshots are included.
