Program Description
The full-time 4-year Pharm.D. program consists of a 3-year didactic curriculum followed by 3 semesters of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE). During the didactic portion of the curriculum, students will participate in Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences each semester. The program must be followed as prescribed and students cannot enroll part-time. Classes will be held in the fall and spring semesters only except during the APPE experiences. During a five-week APPE ImPaCT rotation, the student has dedicated time to work on a scholarly project. This project is defined as an independent, pharmacy-related research endeavor that follows the established guidelines for a research paper. Students are expected to develop the idea, search the literature for background information, collect data, analyze the data and form an appropriate conclusion based on the results. A final paper and poster or platform presentation are presented in a public forum at the annual School of Pharmacy ImPaCT Poster and Presentation Day the week before spring final exams. For more information about our program, please visit http://www.siue.edu/pharmacy/admission/index.shtml.
