Program Description
UToledo is a national, public research university where students earn a world-class education. At UToledo, we value excellence, diversity, student-centeredness, research and scholarship, and professionalism and leadership.
Founded in 1904, the UToledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences provides outstanding learning opportunities, many in experiential and research settings, that will best prepare our Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students for successful and productive careers.
UToledo offers a four-year PharmD degree for students entering the program with or without a prior Bachelor’s degree.
The Doctor of Pharmacy Professional Years 1-3 (P1-P3 years) are delivered on the UToledo Health Science Campus which is home to The University of Toledo Medical Center. Our student pharmacists benefit from interprofessional education with pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other allied health-professional students in our state-of-the-art Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center. The P4 year builds on the knowledge and skills learned in the didactic setting by providing experiences for students to exclusively learn in real-world, pharmacy practice settings. Students can choose from clinical experiences in community and hospital pharmacy, ambulatory care, pharmaceutical industry, long-term care, and many others. Clinical rotations are available locally (Toledo area), regionally (across Ohio, southeast Michigan, and northeast Indiana), nationally, and internationally.
Graduates of the UToledo PharmD program consistently perform above the national average on NAPLEX and jurisprudence exams, and in the national post-graduate residency match program. UToledo PharmD graduates had a post-graduation job placement rate of 98% within 3 months of graduation (Class of 2021).
UToledo tuition and fees are highly competitive with all public/private institutions. Most students may be eligible for financial award opportunities throughout all years of the program.
