Applicants are encouraged to complete prerequisite coursework during traditional academic semesters (fall/spring) to best demonstrate their ability to successfully complete coursework while taking a significant course load. Online science courses with an online lab are only accepted if they were taken between the spring 2020 and spring 2022 semesters. Summer 2022 courses must have the lab component taken in person. Lab courses taken fall 2022 or later must be taken fully in-person.

Biology, chemistry, and physics courses must be foundational science courses for designed for science majors and include a laboratory component. Anatomy and physiology, organic chemistry, and microbiology must be advanced courses and have foundational biology and chemistry as prerequisites. Biochemistry must have organic chemistry as a prerequisite. All science courses except organic chemistry require a lab.

All prerequisite courses taken at UConn must be a C- or higher. All prerequisite courses taken at all other institutions must be a C or higher. UConn Transfer Admissions will only award credit for coursework where applicants have earned a C or better.

The transfer application and all supporting documentation must be submitted to the Office of Transfer Admission by 4/1/2026.

Two letters of recommendation are required. One letter must be from teaching staff from a higher education institution. This can be a professor, lab instructor, or teaching assistant. It is recommended that the second letter be from a professional, such as employer or supervisor; additionally, both letters are recommended to be from individuals that can speak to an applicant's recent work, experiences, and qualifications as a college student. Letters of recommendation from high school teachers, family friends, family members, and non-supervisory coworkers will not be considered. Recommendation letters that are submitted without a clear disclosure of their relationship to an applicant will be disregarded and may be counted negatively towards the evaluation of an application.

All completed on-time applications will be considered on a holistic, competitive basis. Candidates will be granted an interview based on their entire application; however, attention is paid to an applicant's academic record, personal statement and experiences, answers to custom questions, and letters of recommendation. If invited to interview, applicants will be assessed on personal characteristics, such as: professional and social awareness; communication skills; self-knowledge and maturity; ethics and integrity; and problem-solving abilities. Interviews will begin in the fall and continue on a rolling basis until the class is filled.
